KIM TO RETURN AT FIRESTONE 28-Jul-2010
Kim: recovered from thumb surgery |
Anthony Kim has announced he will make his comeback from a thumb injury at next week's WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club. Confirming the news on his Facebook page, he wrote: "I will be back next week at the wgc... looking forward to (being) back."
The American has not played since the first week of May when he competed at the Quail Hollow Championship - won by Rory McIlroy. A couple of days after the event, he had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb and has been working his way back to fitness ever since.
Boost
It is understood the 25-year-old began hitting balls again at the start of July and now feels ready to compete at the World Golf Championships event in Akron which gets underway on August 5. Kim's injury came at an unfortunate time with the American one of the PGA Tour's form players in 2010.
He won the Houston Open in April and had three other top-ten finishes in five starts prior to the problem - including a third place finish at the Masters. Despite his absence, Kim remains in the top-10 of the FedEx Cup points race, while his return to action will also provide a timely boost to US Ryder Cup captain Corey Pavin. He was one of the stars of America's victory at Valhalla two years ago and currently stands fourth in the US points table. Source – Skysports.com
