Kamalizeni………….hopes to leave an impression on debut.

Julius Kamalizeni and Anyway Katembenuka make their Sunshine Tour debut in next week's Dimension-Data Pro-Am at Fancourt, George, from 11-14 February 2010. A total of nine Zimbabweans will be taking part in the tournament that has attracted nearly 200 entries. While the rest of the Zimbabwean crew in the event - Tongo Charamba, Marc Cayeux, Ryan Cairns, Mike Curtis, Ignatius Mketekete, Mark MacDonald and Mohammad Mandhu have already been involved on the Sunshine Tour in one way or the other, the spotlight is certainly on the duo of Katembenuka and Kamalizeni who are making their first appearance in South Africa. The two golfers, whose golfing skills were incidentally honed at the same club - Wingate Park in Harare, left the country for Cape Town last Thursday (4 February).

Katembenuka in particular, was confident of doing well in his first outing on the South African tour in which he, along with Kamalizeni, MacDonald and Mandhu would be taking part in the pre-qualifier for the main tournament next Tuesday. The other five Zimbabwean entries - Charamba, Cayeux, Cairns, Curtis and Mketekete are automatic entries into the final field for the event.

Initially, eleven Zimbabwean professionals were scheduled to take part in the tournament but Sean Farrell and Robson Saurombe have since withdrawn from the tournament. If the likes of Katembenuka and Kamalizeni make it through the pre-qualifier, they will be set to rub shoulders with such big names as the in-form Charl Schwartzel who has already earned in excess of R3-million in the first month of the 2010 season, Stuart Clark of Wales, Scott Dunlap from the United States and other South African stars - James Kamte, Louis Oosthuizen, Hennie Otto, Thomas Aiken, Jaco van Zyl and Josh Cunliffe.

Golfzone wishes all nine Zimbabwean participants all the best in the Dimension Data Pro-Am.
