| Charl Schwartzel fired a closing six-under-par 67 to clinch a one-stroke victory in the Africa Open in East London while Tongo Charamba made his 2010 intentions clear with an encouraging display at the highly competitive Africa Open that ran form 7-10 January at East London Golf Course in South Africa. Charamba, who was one of three Zimbabwean golfers in the 156-strong field for the event posted rounds of 72, 67, 68 and 74 on the par-73 course for an 11-under-par 281 total.

| The year 2009 has been an interesting one for local professional golfers with several high profile tournaments in which the winners were well rewarded. The season has been competitive and the cash rewards have added an extra bite to the competition. After enduring a forgettable 2008, the local professional golfing scene seems to be on the up with regular golf action now the norm.
